Saturday 11 July
Pershore Rd, Birmingham - 11am - 2 Hours
Martin Tierney
Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture nature in a visually interesting way. We will be looking at composition, focus, and colour.

Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, and a single dew drop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. We will learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make subjects pop.

I was hoping for more advice regarding settings, camera set up and composition ( I have only recently started to understand the exposure triangle). There where parts of the session where nothing seemed to be happening and ?28 seemed a little too expensive for what it was. Overall I still enjoyed the morning and it was great meeting new people. I would defiantly consider attending another event as I believe it will build my confidence but would need to consider carefully which event, as cost would limit the amount of events I could attend. Martin was very likable and friendly.

Visiting the cemetery came as a surprise, I had just received news that my grandmother passed away the day before. I was grieving, but being in a place where people had experienced loss with a group of photographers helped to lift some weight off my shoulders. Expressing the pain I felt in the photos I produced made me feel better as the artist, and I hope it made someone in my audience who has experienced something similar feel better as well

Great event, one of those events where everyone was doing their own thing and focusing on different subjects. I had to improvise which brought out some simple, yet creative and effective photos, from which I only shared one in the Facebook group and on Instagram story where I have an audience who engage with the photos I share regularly. Communicating with photographers at these events helps with feeding off different approaches people use when taking photos
