This marks the beginning of the spring season in the Northern Hemisphere and the autumn season in the Southern Hemisphere, according to astronomical calculations. The gardens are diverse and winding, so be sure to bring a variety of lenses to capture their beauty. It's worth noting that the civil calendar date of the equinox changes every year.

Intro to Astro Photography

Intro to Astro Photography

Saturday 10 August
Tysoe, Warwick - 9pm - 2 Hours
Martin Tierney
Do you gaze up at the night sky with wonder? What about looking up at the stars and thinking, how old that light you are seeing is? Maybe you watch as day and night morph into one, and the stars come out to play.

This meetup is going to cover off everything you need to know to start capturing amazing single shot astrophotography and a few extra bits of helpful advice. The learnt basics of capturing a single frame will form the building blocks of your astrophotography journey. Think of this meetup as your first step on that journey or for those who have already started, maybe a road sign.

Astrophotography looks amazing and packs a real punch, however, you do not need to spend a fortune to partake. Does gear make a difference, the simple answer is yes, but it is not the deciding factor when it comes to astrophotography. This meetup will look at planning your session, camera settings, required equipment. I want this meetup to help you maximise your current gear as your start capturing milky way shots.

This was an unusually small group for one of Martins workshops who is by far one the better instructors I have come across. However the smaller group allowed for more time for discussion on the finer details, particularly in a setting where the light and mood is constantly changing.

I ventured out just before Sunrise with some Architectural images of Birmingham Library in mind. After taking a number of shots of the Library and the Cube buildings, I noticed this wonderful contrast between the old Victorian building and the modern building, I thought that the juxtaposition of the two eras in Architecture would make a great image. I decided to shoot it in a portrait frame as I think this gives the best composition.
