Teach a Class
Come along to our fortnightly photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.
Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers. We have a different photo theme each fortnight and the two hour sessions take place in different outdoor locations across Birmingham. Great opportunity to try something new with the guidance of a professional photographer, and come away with some new shots for your portfolio or album.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

What’s involved? Each session starts with an introduction to the fortnight’s theme, and the photography instructor will chat about the camera settings and techniques to use. You’ll then have time to take lots of photos, with the instructor present to answer any questions. You’ll receive feedback and have a chance to chat with everyone to share tips and ideas. We’re a social bunch!

Join the Birmingham Photography Facebook Group here to share your photos after the session.

We ask that everyone attending a meetup follows social distancing guidelines:

Stay home if you're sick.
Keep 1.5 metres away from others.
Don't make unnecessary physical contact with others. Avoid physical greetings, such as handshakes, hugs and kisses.
Wash your hands regularly with alcohol-based sanitiser.
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Use a flexed elbow or a tissue; if you use a tissue, dispose of it immediately and appropriately.

It was exactly what I expected :) The group size was just perfect. We had enough time to practice our skills and talk about techniques and our cameras. Whole meeting was very informative and run in a friendly atmosphere. I can recomend it to anyone seeking to gain some skills with a photography.

I had fun and learned things around storytelling and how the technical aspects of photography work together. I have a desire to do more which is always a good sign. It was confidence building and a safe space to make mistakes:)

Despite the awful weather it was a very enjoyable and educational event. Nice group of people and a nice number for the tutor to help and advise. Martin knew the location well and was very knowledgeable and helpful with ideas for getting the best images with the weather conditions on the day.

It was a good size group - I think 4 to one teacher is a good ratio. Martin was really helpful and provided general tips as well as helping improve the shots I was taking. I would definitely book again. I thought it was good value for money.
